Allegretto in G minor for Organ

Featured Replies

I recently came across a very old piece for strings I wrote in high school which has a soft spot for me since it's the first piece I actually thought was worthwhile.   I thought it would work well for organ so I transcribed it.  The score is very untidy but I'll post it once I've cleaned it up.

Very lyrical. I think it works quite well for the organ. Not bad at all for a high schooler (or even a seasoned composer)!

A very pleasant piece. if I were to make any complaints it would be how it starts to feel very repetitive. but that is if I had to make one. I really enjoyed it. and it makes me want to write for organ as well!! conveys a brilliant arrangement of moods in a very convincing way.

gives me Christmas vibes for some reason no idea why.

Thank you!  14 year-old me would have been very pleased to hear this 🙂

Thanks!  I like writing for organ, having the versatility of three staves to work with is quite fun.

A quite melodically lucid piece!  I realize that it's been 2 years since you've posted this but I couldn't help myself but review this seductive piece.  I'm still hoping that you have the score to this piece stashed somewhere on your hard drive!  LoL  The transitions in this piece are particularly smooth and the melodic development eloquent.  I like the touch of imitative counterpoint in a fugato manner near the end.  Great job!  This rendition sounds like a real performance.

P.S.:  I think it's the combination of upbeat minuet-like rhythm and minor mode that produces a certain kind of very musically interesting mismatch which keeps me coming back to listen to this piece over and over again.

Thank you for listening and the kind comment!  I've attached the score, though it actually requires further editing as parts are still unplayable which I never got around to correcting (yet).
