first post! -- water, love

Featured Replies

I wrote this several days ago. All in all it probably took around 2 hours to complete. Structure is basically ABAB. In the morning, when I began the piece, I was thinking about water, hence the repeated chords, but then the day was very emotional for me and I realized it was love I was expressing as I finished it. I didn't have the cello part at all originally but when I sat down to look at it at night I realized it needed something and that was it. I love writing duets like that. I didn't really use any "techniques" because I'm still pretty much a beginner and entirely self-"taught".

Sorry...just seems to drag. Nice though.

When I played it from the beginning and I saw the first measures I thought it would only be some kind of a "cool" piece that would be too weird. But when the flute began I thought it was nice. You have done something different, and I like it. I can imagine some Chinese music or something like that. I think it's kind of a "concert piece", if you know what I mean? If I had heard it on a concert I think I would really thought great about the song! But I don't think it's a piece I would like to listen on a CD. I think, I don't know

Good work!

it does have that far eastern feeling, especially the begining. i really like the idea of having triplets against quarters. but it gets a bit repetive. i would take the triplets out in the middle and add more energy with a more active piano part but then end with it.

WOW ! that's impressive !... the idea of giving a beat in triplets is very clever... and the writing of the melody with the cello ornementing the flute sustained note is very well done ! I can't wait to hear more works of you !
