Holiday Music Event 2020

Featured Replies

Hello all, what a wonderful year its been lol. I think this year's holidays are vital to people's sense of community and family, even though it will only be those closest to you. But Christmas is also about imagination, coming up with vivid stories and legends. This holiday event, I was thinking everyone could take a christmas story (or, much cooler, come up with an original one) and make a song about it. You could even take the music from a famous holiday movie and rearrange it and make it your own. Could be some very cool ways to reharmonize rudolph or frosty the snowman for example. No music will be turned down, even if it doesn't fit the topic (I know our Jewish[+other religions or atheist!] friends don't have as much material to work with), but it would be cool to see what we can conjure up. For every piece submitted I will donate one dollar (don't have a lot of money myself) to my local food shelf, and if anyone else would like to join in we could really help raise some holiday spirit in a fun way. Thanks all, ho ho ho =)

End of the event is January 30th!

Lol I figure with the fall competition coming up it would help to give people more time. I'm excited you might come to the dark side this time!

I'd like to but I don't know if I'll have time to participate.  I have a final exam on December 14th and also the 2020 Autumn YC Competition deadline is around the same time right?

Oh, that's a good point. We'd have to move the deadline for this, I think, @Left Unexplained

Yes I posted this before the competition dates were out. What are your guy's ideas? Maybe mid January?

that works, but I feel like people should just post them as they come up with them also, so like the cutoff is late january but anytime from now until then is ok to submit a piece
