September 12, 200520 yr A fairly new composition of mine. Let me know what you think. I'll just leave it at that..... artistryinrhythm.MID
September 12, 200520 yr I have to say that this sounds more like me than any other piece that I've heard that isn't actually me. Not in macroscopic terms, but in microscopic terms. So...THat's what I'm talkin bout
September 17, 200520 yr I love the tremolo beginning. Reminds me of Bruckner. The dialogue between flutes and brass (and is that an obeo), is quite delightful. Ah, the heavier brass is building.... of, nice fanfare at 0:45! It definitely feels good. Ack, it all disappeared at 1:00. Hmm, seomginth new now. The pizzicato provides an interesting counterpoint. The melody sounds familiar, but I cannot quite place it. Great use of odd percussion instruments though to accent the rhythmic qualities. Definitely don't sound like BRuckner anymore. :D I can feel a rhythmic drive slowly building as the different beats all coalesce together. I am curious as to where this is going though. This section may be dragging on longer than it should. Ah, now there is a side drum and trumpets making military calls. That was a very clever transition, I almost didn't notice it. Nice tutti at 4:00, that I really love! :) Ah, we are back to the tremolo in the strings, and the conversation between flute and oboe is it? Very nice. Ooops, spoke too soon. Now we have some odd almost tribal counterpoints interjecting. Interesting way to end the piece. I cannot say that this has truly struck a chord with me, I don't think there is enough drive to the piece to keep me interested for solely rhythmic reasons through out its course, but as something to work from, it's an excellent blueprint. You've a very good idea on how to blend differetn sections together almost seamlessly. That'll definitely serve you well!
