August 25, 20214 yr Here's an older work I composed ... which I have recently edited, expanded, etc. This is the first finished draft. I still have some touching up to do. Hope you enjoy the work. All comments/suggestions/advice and good thoughts much appreciated.
August 25, 20214 yr Very nice work. Good use of the full orchestra. I particularly like the percussion, always difficult for me.
August 25, 20214 yr While you've got some good moments in there (e.g., end of p. 4 into p. 5), my advice would be to think more about the larger scale flow. It does feel a little bit like a parade, but unfortunately not in a good way. A thing happens, then another thing happens, and then something else happens. But it's not really clear why.
August 26, 20214 yr Author Thanks for the review. Your observations are quite accurate ... this is an abridged version of the original work. I wasn't happy with sections that I thought were not up to my standards and I deleted them. I think I will now go back and see if I can rework them to my satisfaction and reincorporate them into the story line. It's somewhat frustrating when the work is uneven. The parts I deleted were from a very early version of the work - when my skill set was more limited and less developed.
December 23, 20214 yr Author Hi - I continued to work on the piece and this is the unabridged version ... with many tweaks. The last review stated it was a series of somewhat unconnected sections: so let me expand on my idea for the work. This is a group of Vagabonds that wake up and decide to walk towards town. One the way they experience different moods and events ... a bit of fun/wildness - some gentility and somberness/heartache before the final march on-wards. Please excuse the engraving as it is not finished. It is still a work in progress - however, nearly completion. All comments appreciated. December 25, 20214 yr Author So did some research and a minuet has two parts ... so I will compose another dance melody to extend the 3/4 section - to give it more presence/balance in the scope of the work.
