A Nervous Condition

Featured Replies

This is cool!  It does sound unsettling and like incidental/cinematic music that could serve as an adequate background to a scene where some character is exhibiting obsessive-compulsive characteristics.  Like, I can see the character doing weird repetitive tasks in their studio apartment, checking the locks etc.  LoL  I think though, if you want a more critical appraisal of the music you should post a score.  I like though how you start the piece with just oboe and clarinet and then add layers.  It's never too busy or badly orchestrated imo.  Great job!

I agree, I like some moments: the low instrument at 00:45, the fluttering melody over an ostinato (1:50...), the entrance of the marimba (or similar) and castaetas ! drt.

Really liked this piece.

As pointed out it has the movie soundtrack feel.  I imagined it as the title track to a rom-com featuring an somewhat neurotic lead.---maybe something like "The Accidental Tourist".....

Nice stuff.  Varied, nicely orchestrated, taking advantage of what the opening motif has to offer...

Not much to add here:

• I liked it, and though it felt repetitive at the beginning, after a second listen I don't get that feeling anymore.
• The brass section before ~4:00 is one of my favourite parts along the very beginning of this piece, specially what the strings do to answer the main motive.
• I would've liked to read the score too.

BTW, would you mind if I shared this on my kinda empty twitter? I like to share people's works expecting someone may click on them someday and listen to some very nice pieces that can be found here. This is definitely one of those pieces.

Kind regards,
Daniel–Ømicrón.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
This was the first piece I wrote that I was really proud of. I’ve been working on it off and on for a few years now.

I’m working on the score right now, just have to finish the percussion notation.

@Omicronrg9 I would be honored you’d want it share this!

Oh now I see it. Will properly check it later and will definitely share your piece. Don't expect any traffic though, lol.

Kind regards!

A bit of Stravinsky ..... 😉 Lovely orchestration/texture ... quite enjoyable.
