jawoodruff
Surprisingly, despite my profile pic, I'm a bit on the fence regarding Schoenberg -sometimes I feel that he was a bit more inflated than necessary for his work. Some of his dodecaphonic works leave a lot to be desired -but, hey!, he was working with a new system!!!! Anyways, I'm familiar with sprechstimme from my experience with Pierrot Lunaire. However, while I've heard of this piece... it was only recently that I actually listened to it. One of my fascinations is studying history. Whilst studying the Holocaust, I discovered this piece. Definitely seems a good portrayal of that tragic phase in our history.
