October 9, 200619 yr Check this out, it's the longest song that I have made (so far) that is good enough to post here. I like the use if Augmented chords quite a lot. Now the midi is hopeless for this song, so don't comment on strange timing issues, especially near the end. Constructive criticism would be appreciated. This song took me a year to make, but I was on and off, which is why it has different parts that you can hear that I have changed. BTW, can you hear the key changes. It goes F#minor, Bbminor, F#minor, Cminor, F#minor. With many other variations to the 4 and 5 chords in each section. Ballade 1.MID
October 10, 200619 yr I don't know why no-one has responded. Ireally liked some of your themes and all. The off beat stuff was nice in some parts but it had almost this pirate "open seas" kind of sound to it. the fast part at 50 seconds = beautiful! and again at 1:30 ah = amazing. You've inspired my some actually. I have wanted to write a ballade for quite a while now. I made an attempt but it turned into a waltz. = I like the way you present the theme at 2:30 it's really nice and flowing. Is 3:08 like a con fuoco section? what ever it is I really like that. Your variations at 3:45 are QUITE nice! The whole piece is nicely done in my oppinion. Ending = Nicely Done. The only thing I felt lacking in the piece was that I wanted to hear it keep gonig, haha. I really, really like it. Great job.
October 11, 200619 yr Author Thanks a lot guys! I know what you mean about the flow, as it changes key signature a few times, and the midi really destroyed the flow in parts. But yeah, is was a bit disrupted in places, here is the score. Thanks again. (this is the link, weird ay?)
October 12, 200619 yr Having taken just a short look at the piece, I agree with Nico that it sounds nice but would benefit from better definition of structure. The presto section on page 4 is awkward; the simple physics of what you demand are probably impossible for most pianists to play anywhere near tempo. I would recommend looking at some of Rachmaninoff's piano works to see how he produced the sort of sound that you seem to be looking for. If you want that sort of speed on the section, drop some of the chords and just concentrate on arpeggios. Intro - don't use oom-pa-pa with the piano with a single-line melody. Recommend looking at Chopin for some examples on this. Generally the texture isn't condusive to the piano. I would consider either re-arranging it for more instruments, or filling in some inner voices for the piano.
October 12, 200619 yr Author I know about the presto part on p4, I don't mean it to be that fast, but something to do with the accelerando made it go faster than it should be, in the intro the left hand should be much quieter. Thanks for the help.:P
