And on that note...I'M BACK!! And I bring with me an awesome new theme I put together today for a flaming volcanic area....enjoy! :musicwhistle:

Hell's Peak (Tesla Volcano)

Aaaand again, another piece.

This one is for the docks/shipyard! Enjoy

Blackwater Docks

Nice work!

I'ld like to comment on the last two pieces:

Both pieces, Volcano and Black Water Docks theme have good syncopation, and use of sound effects. They have somewhat of a pirate'y feel to it while sounding somewhat ancient and tribal. I can't offer much in criticism due to lack of experience. I just have one question: what tools were used for the drum synth in Volcano.

Thank you, KSP :) The percussion was a blend of StormDrum and EWQLSO Gold XP Pro. And my percussionist's expertise, of course

Nice to see you back on the project, Marius, bringing your awesome percussion back with you (although pianobeast did very well in your absence!)

I love the first one, although it may have been a bit too percussion dominated! I liked the little effects in the background, the ones that change in pitch. What are they?

I didn't like the second one as much, it could have been a bit more "nautical" at times, but it was still very good.

I'd love to play this mod when it's finished.

Hey there bob,

The percussion dominance was intentional; I wanted to accent the fact that it was a VOLCANO and the best way to do that was with nice powerful percussion and brass. Which leads me to answer your second question, the pitch-changing effects were just horns and trombones executing short falls from the initial note.

Glad you enjoyed them and thank you for your comments! :D

Ah yes, makes sense!

Damn, sometimes I think i'll never be as good as you guys:(. This whole work is absolutely awesome!

Hey!

New piece for Blackwater Isle - don't say you haven't been expecting it..... because we all know you haven't... :D

:o

It's a new cave theme. Justly titled: The Undercrofts. Please leave your comments and critiques, as they are always appreciated.

-The Undercrofts-

Thanks!

-Evan

Marius it is SO lucious. Your work always sounds incredible. Is there a place on the website I can see what you use for your sound libraries so I can learn a bit more?

Marius is still with the project, but he's out of commission, sort of. And just to finally get this straight with the 20+ people who have said it before (because it's really just starting to piss me off now), there are two people working on this project. Evan Duffy (myself) who originally got the project, who then asked Marius to join the team. OK? Glad I got that out of my system.

And the sound library I used was: EWQL Gold (not Gold XP)

Yeah, if you were referring to this latest piece then direct your questions to Evan; it was all him enjoying his new sound library ;)

I thought it was fantastic Evan.

There ya go ;)

hahaha, thanks, retron ;)

.........that'd be Evan Duffy, not Marius. Marius is still with the project, but he's out of commission, sort of. I know who wrote which one. I was talking about the docks piece excuse me if I didn't make that clear. I apologize. I hadn't visited this thread yet and didn't look at the date he posted. I apologize again for the misunderstanding. I liked yours as well but I was talking to Marius so please excuse me if I stepped on your toes.

When I write somones name I intend them not somone else. My comment didn't have just grounds here but from EVERYTHING I've heard by him. His quality of sound is awesome. He towers above me on the technical side of composing. I was quite curious how he did it.

Not to say at all that yours is bad though, I quite enjoyed them but found nothing usefull I could add so I abdicated from saying anything at all.

I would like to apologize again for your misinterpretation of my vague language.

It also sounds like something bigger than this is bugging you and that I am not really the problem but the person who gets backlash for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is my take on it.

Cheers! Good job on this stuff you guys.

P.S. I'm still curious Marius. If you could take the time pm me about it?

  • Author

Oh! Thank you kindly then! Yes, I'll PM you about it ;)

haha, well thanks, MoL. You're right in saying its not you! :) It's just that its been mixed up many times, and it's frustrating when you put the work in and then you're not acknowledged for it! I'm sure that you understand... and I'm sorry for being a dick :P

No problem at all. We are all human. I completely understand where your coming from.

Hey, all -

Marius and I are working on recording the last couple tracks for Blackwater Isle. I know it's been a good long while since the last update, and for that we both apologize. But, seeing as most of you are also highschool students (and/or have other significant obligations) I know that you can all empathize with how busy we all are. That being said, Marius has the last two pieces, and will be recording them soon. I'll talk to him today and see if we can't get them up by mid-week.

Sorry again for such a long time away!!!
