HtWinsor
Hi I was wondering if this score would be considered a bagatelle nocturne or other? It's a bit short I could always extend on the score later! Henry Ng Tsz Kiu
Hi @HtWinsor @hw1234, I am happy at least you try to write something romantic. Usually you write baroque or classical stuff and here you try to imitate the nocturne by having the left accompaniment and some polyrhythms. You can explore more on the more advances harmony. The melody can be more elaborated with soprano aria in mind. Pianistic ornaments can be added more to embellish the music. 7 hours ago, HtWinsor said: I was wondering if this score would be considered a bagatelle nocturne or other? A nocturne should be more extended so this one can be named a bagatelle, but even a bagatelle can be longer! Thanks for sharing Henry
Luis Hernández
On the basis that you can call your music whatever you want .... In the Romantic period they gave very personal names to the pieces. The nocturne (a genre I love) is so because it evokes the night in any of its senses. However, the choice of instrument in this case doesn't call me to this. The harpsichord is not what we most associate with the nocturne. Those accompanying arpeggios call for the use of the pedal. On the other hand the music is very pleasant.
