June 19, 20232 yr Short Waltz's in G Major and A Minor! hope you enjoy and don't be shy with critique. Edited June 19, 20232 yr by HtWinsor
June 20, 20232 yr Hi @HtWinsor, Waltz 17: I think you can include a half cadence in b.4. The hemiola in b.9 is interesting but the harmonic progression is strange. You can just change b.9 to a G minor chord and b.10 a C minor one before resolving to the dominant. The ending again should include half cadences. Waltz 18: B,12 and 23 the C bass since strange to me. Having the second inversion with E bass will be better. Henry
June 20, 20232 yr Waltz 17, indeed, includes a very strange modulation between measures 9 and 10. It is not very functional, something like G-F#mb5-Bb/F..... C/E. I understand that the intention is to make a descent of the bass by joint degrees but particularly that Bb/F doesn't work. I would replace it with a dominant over the following C/E as G/F, or being more dramatic, Fdim7.
