Very adventurous piece. It's full of life and character!

Despite its brevity you managed to contain a decent amount of well done transitions. I just love the ending.

Kind regards!

Thanks. I tried to show what it was like being creative in a pretty normal ordinary social world sometimes. Not here just day to day living in the world. The dramatic turns are supposed to reflect a world that is not always recongized or given the time of day.

Yes, Poulenc is definitely worth checking into if you aren't familiar with him! May I recommend one of his piano concertos:

and also his cello sonata: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=-ImBojYDiyU&list=OLAK5uy_nMh7q0UNFwT2s6UDE-idgMjMCpXHxiOWk

They are excellent works, he is quite an underrated impressionistic composer.

The worldwide famous @Left Unexplained is back!

Just under a minute you fully display your understanding of orchestral timbre and sudden modulation. The opening basssoon melody is great, as well as the brassy passages later, and the ending is freakingly beautiful. Your usage of orchestra is so original and un-clichetic! Thx for sharing!

Hey @Left Unexplained!  So this is the thread where you got the Poulanc Piano Concerto recommendation!  Thanks for passing it along!

What is the instrumentation for this piece?  It sounds like you're using reduced orchestral forces most of the time.  In the beginning it almost starts like a bassoon concerto.  Then you switch to having the trumpet on the main melody.  It ends with a really nice shimmering texture.  I am noticing lots of oom-pahs in the strings but then towards the end you break that pattern and allow the piece to conclude calmly.  It really is too bad that it's so short.  But it does sound finished and I love the lydian flavor.  Thanks for sharing!
