Ode Against Fascism for string orchestra

Featured Replies

Rather morose but well balanced. Just my impression, it seemed more funereal than a run against fascism (I had in mind the likes of that N Korean bloke).

I also felt the frequent use of falling chromatic intervals came as a kind of cliche to give it its sadness. The morendo ending left me feeling nothing had been resolved.

All in all a good effort, good string writing.

Hello

It's a seemingly simple concept, with three instruments marking the harmony (and steady beat) and two in octaves with the melody.
You may think that it doesn't take advantage of the potential of the sections, but from my point of view, it works quite well.

Thanks for listening!  Yes, it was meant to be a simple thing; I started writing a fugue as a second section, but decided it stands better on its own as a miniature.  The title is perhaps foolish and naive, but it was written as more or less a direct oupouring of emotion following... a recent U.S. political event.
