well, 6:47 of E flat modal minor chords is really not my idea of a "major work".

While normally I'd be fascinated by anything minimalist, this just smacked of the "Ctrl+C school of music".

Quite honestly, this does not sound like something that a great deal of work went into.

1. How long did you work on this?

2. How did you elaborate the rythmic ideas?

3. How did you select the rather heteroclite instrumental ensemble?

4. Do you also have a score of this peice or is it MIDI-only?

5. Why not move to other keys? (actually, why not use at least ONE more chord, SOMEWHERE in the piece!)

Moved to Experimental/Other because we felt the piece did not qualify as a major work.

Qccowboy has already summed up mostly why we felt this.

If you would like the piece to be in the Chamber forum, or somewhere else, just ask a mod to move it.

Really the same criticism that I posted when there was only one movement. Refer to the recommendations I made back then.

Well the first movement is better, but still just ok, unless your aim is early minimalist, electronic music in stasis - in which case it's great! The other movements do not seem to ever move away from the same key, and whilst this is fine if you always want to write in the early minimalist style, if you want it to sound better you should include more modulation. You should get your hands on some recent Reich, eg "You Are" Variations or Music for 18 Musicians - these show modern minimalism which never gets boring.

Well Ceil, despite all the criticism from these guys, I think it would be great for game music. Reminds me of really old Nintendo games. I hate to break it to you but, for it to be major work...it still lacks many elements.. But overall, it was good, for enjoyment. Yep, old Nintendo memories just comes back. good stuff
