mercurypickles Posted April 29 Posted April 29 (edited) Here are two songs for voice I wrote back in February. These are pieces I wrote shortly after a break to composition, I was too busy to write anything for most of last semester. They are a setting of Goethe's two "Wandrers Nachtlied" poems, famously set by Schubert and Liszt among others. I wrote this pair of songs on/around Valentine's Day, I had a lot on my mind and these were the output of that. I'll be performing them myself relatively soon, as will a friend of mine, and I will post a real recording soon. In the mean time, enjoy the MIDI 😝 Let me know your thoughts! Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Hi @mercurypickles! Lovely pair of songs, the first one lyrical and second one pastoral, especially with the oboe sounding lol! I really like your modulation to Eb major in the second song, it’s like quoting material from the 1st song to the 2nd song. However I would say the interlude is a bit too long for me, maybe for me I will shorten it. Thx for sharing! Henry 1 Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Hi @mercurypickles! I really love the lyrical 2nd song! Perhaps they're both lyrical. The 1st song is lyrical in that it seems to continue a logical leading melodic line despite seemingly constant tempo changes. But you make it sound quite natural and smooth and beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Quote
