SpaceGuy Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Hello everyone, I'll give this forum a try - discovered it after watching Henry Ng's video on the 2nd movement of his 2nd piano sonata. Here are the first three movements of my first symphony (and my first piece of decent quality, hence C. 1). If anyone is interested, one can follow my channel to see when the fourth movement will be up. Comments and feedback are always appreciated. 1 Quote

Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Hi @SpaceGuy! I will respond to the first mov first. The beginning of the 1st mov sounds like Mahler's 2nd to me, I like the brass fanfare. The woodwind passages after it provide a good contrast. The modulation of G minor-Eb major-G# minor-B major in 1:18 sounds quite good! I love the contrast you bring in at 3:50. I like the theme in 5:15 too, sounds a bit like Beethoven Ninth's Ode to Joy to be honest. I like the clarinet after it too. I personally think the development section is a bit too peaceful for the later recap in 7:33. Maybe add some drama in it (in my personal opinion)? However I like your recap! Although some reorchestration will be a nice variety! The F minor section is very interesting. Maybe for me the transition to F minor to G minor can be made more dramatic like adding some tremolos? The lydian influence from C major to G minor sounds nice but to me the final outburst of G minor sounds a bit abrupt personally. I think the outburst can be prepared with a gradual crescendo and intensity, instead of a sudden sforzando and modulation, but that's just my personal opinion. Maybe you can provide the pdf score and/or your self analysis of your own music here, so we can have a deeper look of the music! Thx for joining and sharing your music! I will check the other movements too in the future. Henry Quote
