Barcarolle

Featured Replies

This is my most popular piece on the internet.ย  My brother almost wants to make love to me over it.ย  I think it is a good piano piece.ย  I wrote it in some bar or coffeeshop in 1996.ย  Thoughts?๐Ÿคฃ

A rare example of program music for me.ย  If I can find that Noteflight comment...

Forgot to tell you; Barcarolle is a rare example of program music, music that tells a specific story, in my compositional output. It is like the rustic dance interrupted by a storm thing in Beethoven's Sixth Symphony in F, though in my Barcarolle, the story is that some folks with no Nautical Knowledge chartered a boat, like in Gilligan's Island, and went merrily out to sea, or out of port at least. A storm brews, and these dorks are in fear of their lives, but the storm passes, and they go back to shore and get drunk and dance, but of course they are drunk, so the dance is a bit staggered!

Those wierd parts are also kind of Prokofiev...

I like that comment! Also did you listen to Chopin op 60 before? It is also a Barcarolle.ย

So many people hear Prokofiev in my stuff from this time in my life!ย  You are not the first; someone on Noteflight got "major Prokofiev vibes" from Toccata!ย  He was for a long time a composer I respected but didn't listen to much, but something must have stuck!ย  ย  ย

I'm sure I have and would remember immediately!ย  Chopin...You know, my own piano skills are about good enough to play the e minor prelude badly?๐Ÿคฃ

That is funny! Also do you don't play your own compositions?ย

Oh yeah...I almost died from a childhood vaccination, allergic to Pertussis Vaccine, and well, I'm alive, well, and drinking beer and shootin' the s*it about music at 56, but it led to some coordination problems.ย  They let me major in composition anyway.ย  My best instrument is Rock electric bass.ย ย

Just the truth!ย  So what; some people survive gunshot wounds.ย  I'm chill, drinking cheep beer rather slowly!ย  I'm cool, and maybe should pack another bowl of this very nice high THC pot!ย ย

Ok. That is great! Also, if you drink cheap beer slowly, do you drink expensive wine quickly?

NEVER!ย  NIE!ย  GOTT VERDAMMNT!ย  Never.ย  I have enough money to live frugally for the rest of my life, no Cadillac, and as an occasional treat will buy Savory & James Medium Amontillado Sherry, 20% Alcohol, and...

I had Mouton Rothschild once.ย  It was 1971, considered a bad vintage, and cost me $120 for the bottle in 2002 or so.ย  It was so good I didn't care about the buzz and just sipped it slowly, but still not worth $120.

Just because this is a music site...

Do you know who dedicated what to a Rothschild?

  • Author

Well, that first famous one, Arnold?ย  Forget the name of that Rothschild, but funded both sides of the Napoleonic Wars, and somehow, made some money off of that.

Well, that is fake s*it.ย  She had some aspirations towards composition, but just stole Chopin.ย

Anyway, going to smoke more MARIJUANA, that DEVIL-WEED, and if you don't like it, Auf Wiedersehen!๐Ÿค‘

Okay. Anyways, parallel fifths here. https://musescore.com/user/96214813/scores/28066087

Honestly, I do not know what exactly you are talking about.ย  Time to sell the forum, if you yourself do not know what you are doing?๐Ÿคฃ

It isn't my forum.ย  @chopinย is the owner. ย But this code of conduct and forum etiquette was a staff creation. ย That means @chopin, me, @Henry Ng Tsz Kiu, @Thatguy v2.0, and @UncleRed99ย were involved in its creation and we all agreed that it was necessary.
