Christmas Mash-up No.3

Featured Replies

This time I have mixed "O, Christmas Tree" with "Hark! The Herald Angel's Sing!"  I included three stanzas of each Carol and each occurrence of each stanza is set differently with the final one being a bit polytonal.  Also, this time the mash-up is accompanied by a brass octet instead of strings.  And the choir is a SMAATTBB 8-part choir.  Thanks for listening and I hope you had a Merry Christmas and that your New Year will be a happy one!  I'd appreciate any comments, suggestions, critiques or observations!

Nice layering of the different melodies! At one point I wasn't sure which song I was listening to because you blended them together so seamlessly. Nice change-up of the harmony towards the end.

Sounded pretty cool to me, are you playing a piano or something?

idk if you will take my observation but you asked, but uh around 1:06 sounded odd to me. Anyways yea sounds great overall

Thanks!  There is no piano in this - only a brass octet and an 8-part choir.  Do you mean did I make it by playing the notes with a keyboard?  No, I input the notes directly into Musescore using a mouse.

Interesting, I'm glad i'm not the only one using technology lol. Don't get mad ok lol I'm not saying you are doing the same thing I'm doing cuz your way you still pick the notes unlike mine which depends on the lyrics is what suno spits out.

Sorry, that I just had to press the „laughing“ button when reading your announcement of mashing up "O, Christmas Tree" with "Hark! The Herald Angel's Sing!", this must be wild!

Now after listening to it I had to smile again on how confusing it comes to the listener having two carols at the same time being on the one hand well blended together but also producing some frictions so that listener is kept focused when he wants to follow and concentrate on either the one or the other carol.

All in all that mashups were very inspiring to me and perhaps I’ll try to figuring out something similar for the piano and call it „double fugue“, haha!

Yo Peter!

This mashup is my favourite of your 3 because I think this one mixes the best! The counterpoint works so well here and even for passages in b.44 when the "O, Christmas Tree" melody enters in F major while the "Hark! The Herald Angel's Sing!" stays in C major it doesn't sound weird but fluent. That results in a lovely Lydian ending!

Thx for sharing!

Interesting, you are mixing real composition with originality then "originality" by clicking a button to generate, and call them the same thing as technology.

I am now 100% certain that you have comprehension issues, did you even read what you wrote? It makes no sense at all.

It's common when someone has no words to object they claim the opposing arguments have no sense at all 🫢😏

@Henry Ng Tsz Kiu uh they actually don’t make sense. I actually at least said something, unlike you. You had nothing to say to my previous questions. 🫠

Anyways, I am done interacting with you. I have given you enough of my time. You must have nothing else better to do than bug me.

I’ll read whatever you reply to this, after that I’m just going to ignore you.
