Two Lover Souls (for Flute and Cello)

Featured Replies

hi everyone

I met and joined this site today and this is my first post

A 2 min. piece for flute and cello

i composed it a few months ago

the idea in my mind is two lovers talking without words.

i am new in composing so there might be ( must be:D ) technical mistakes and missing things. thus your comments and critiques are welcome

i hope you like it...

I liked some of the ideas in the song, but I speak for myself- you have potential to become good. With this in mind, there are a few comments I'd like to make.

You need to learn harmony- I like the fact that you're trying to combine both the cello and flute together in counterpoint. However, there seems to be odd harmonic movement. Of course, I'm more ingrained in a baroque-oriented harmony, so if you're going for modern or atonal, you're most likely closer.

Second, your melodic ideas were presented quickly and never really developed. I'm no master of developing melodies, but it seems like you never really settled on an idea.

Just my two cents... I couldn't really see the score on sibelius (my computer's dumb like that), so that's just what I heard... so I really can't give much more in comments other than that..

Keep up the composing.
