Credits (1st)

Hi everyone, I'm Fox. Just found these forums and they look great, seeing as you lot seem to know what you're talking about I was hoping you'd listen to this piece. Its one to go over the credits of an RPG being created by me.

I dont take music lessons or anything like that, so what I've done is essentially self-taught. I welcome constructive criticism as I'm constantly trying to prove and - I've listend to some of the stuff on here and I KNOW I'm not at that level yet! I'm hoping to take any advice you can give me on here and put it into re-writing this piece.

Hey Fox, great to see another selft taught composer on here, I am too :shifty:

After listening to the credits i'm v.impressed, you havnt neglected any of the instruments, they all flow really well together!

You'll probably want someone else to give constructive criticism though, all I can say was that it would fit as the credits really well, builds up to quite an epic feel thanks to the timapni rolls and the way you continually add layers to the music. well done!

Thanks Sam! I gotta say that wasn't the response I was expecting, I thought everyone was gonna tear me to pieces on here!!!

By the way nice Avatar, Nobuo Uematsu is a legend. He's the whole reason I became a composer in the first place!

We don't usually tear people in pieces! I can only remember one ocassion, with an unfortunate new member called exemos but he asked for it !

Anyway, I am listening to your piece right now. For a self thought composer it doesn't sound bad. I liked the way you clearly define melody and accompaniment. for instance there was a trumpet solo and the strings were doing a nice accompanying figure. This shows you pay attention to music that you listen and learn something from it. The flow of the music was also enhanced with some occasional climaxes.

I think that you are doing fine, I can only suggest continue composing, listen a lot of music, even the ones you don't like and keep coming back to this site, a lot of criticism will do you good on improving.

Thanks alot! I've just started re-writing it. Using a bigger orchestra in Sibelius this time around and playing more with woodwind and such. I've done about 8 bars in two days so this is gonna take a while! :)
