December 30, 200619 yr This is a piano piece I wrote for a friend of mine named Fiona. I have attached the MIDI file and the Sibelius file but I was very lazy with this one and didn't write in any sustain pedal (instead gave the direction to pedal at will), nor did I use any rit's or accel's where they belong. It will be a very hollow performance, therefore. Oh well, still tell me what you think. Fur Fiona.mid Piano Pieces F2 - Final Copy.sib
December 30, 200619 yr This is a very interesting piece. Very contemporary. There isn't a great deal of flow, though. Some of the key changes seem sort of arbitrary, and it doesn't have a lot of form save for abcdefghijkba. But you got the ba there at the end, so that's good  I did; however, like this piece. It just appeals to me.
December 30, 200619 yr Interesting to say the least. But the beginning, for about 2 minutes, was very slow. Alot slower than it needed to be. The chords were held for a little too long. I liked it but it was too tedious. Your abcdefghijkba form was a little different. You should at least add in some little snippets of the earlier melodies. Maybe rondo form? I dunno. A little too contemporary for me, but good to say the least. Keep it up!
January 4, 200719 yr Author hello guys, sorry for the slow reply but i'm in thailand on a keyboard without a working shift key. thanks very much for the comments. yeah, the formlessness is very problematic. certainly it is too slow at the start but hopefully with the pedal involved and a real piano the chords would linger sweetly. my friend fiona appreciated the piece as well. isn't writing something for someone the best present?
February 5, 200719 yr Honeslty, I did not enjoy this piece one bit. It sounded pretentious and unlistenable and I wouldn't even bother trying to fix it. Just start something new and forget about it. Although, I do believe you have talent. I think you just got caught up being too contemporary and experimental.
