February 12, 200719 yr I think it needs a melody and I think you could create better textures than just block chords. Just keep composing and you'll get better. My first pieces sounded similar.
February 13, 200719 yr yes indeed i started out like this have a look at my first composition, in some thread... also what i quickly discovered to be my best tool in compositon is a 'feel' for chords. i can only play piano in c major or c minor, but whats most important is what type of chrods sound best. chord progressions are so key and i think thats what you need to learn. IE perfect cadence = chord 5 followed by 1. those types of things are essential i feel but just plink around on the keyboard untill you find what makes you tick.. for me its a f major chord 7 awww lovley
