Finale: Three Questions

I have three problems with Finale. :D

1) I have a score for a quartet piece, how do you make it just print it into just the parts (first violin, viola, etc.)?

2) I've lost a composition of mine except in midi format. Now, when Finale turns it into a .MUS file, it appears in the key of C major with accidentals for the key signature and flats where sharps are appropriate for accidentals (D flat instead of C sharp). If you try to change the key signature, finale transposes the notes (like up a third) as if it was already correct or whatever. So, is there any way I could add the key signature without the notes moving and then quickly change the flats into the sharps?? If I need to go through fixing by hand it'll take forever.

3) How do you add the 'midi patch' or whatever so the violins will play as if pizzicato?

Please help, I'm playing the composition in question 2) in just a few days in a composers concert and I need to get the music to my accompanist!!

1) The best thing you could do is to make a copy of your file, then delete 3 instrumets, leaving just the one you want to print out. Then you make it look better of course, print it out and repeat the same action for the other istruments

2) When importing a midi make sure you go through all of the options that appear on the "import midi file options" screen.

Under "Key signature" choose the "set key signature" option and choose the key signature yourself.

HOWEVER, if your piece has big key signature changes (especialy the sharp to flat ones) you may wanna choose the option "infer ask first". Finale will then progress slowly asking you if you want to change key signatures on cirtan measures/

3) I asked the same question some time ago in the "finale help thread". browse there and im cirtan you'll find an answer.

1) Click File->Extract Parts.

3) I'm certain it's an expression. (At least in Finale 2006)

If you use GPO then you can just go to the Expression dialog and select "pizz" and place it above the first note you want it to play in pizz. Human Playback switches the sounds automatically.

If you don't use GPO, then you must select the "midi tool". Select the whole section to be played in pizz. Go to the "midi menu". Select "Edit continuous data". A dialog opens up. Select the "Patch Change" radio button and click "OK". Open the "midi menu" again and select "Set To...". In the "General Midi" combobox, select the pizz instrument and click OK. Thats it!! To change the sound back, follow the steps above and select your normal sound for "arco".

First, read the manual or go through the tutorials. These are all really basic questions that are easily answered by doing either of those things.

my suspicion is that these are not, in fact "Finale" questions, but rather Notepad questions.

MY suspicion is that this is, in fact a three-year-old thread. ;)
