Fugal movment in a minor (Baroque)

Sadly, when it comes to writing fugues, I am hopeless. I have never been able to get any help and therefore I am completely mind blown when it comes to the exposition of a fugue - if I ever get there in the first place.

This is a piece which suffered the same fate. It started and then... turned into something strange.

It took me about 3 school days to finish.

With some practice I think you can do well with fugues. Fugues are really not hard to understand, but writing them can be a challenge. The main challenge being finding a workable counter-subject that will work well both below and above the main subject. Once you can get that the piece should take flight.

Just don't get discouraged. Keep writing and you'll write some very nice fugues. And remember most great fugues take more than three days to write! :laugh:

The piece you posted had some harsh parts, but it showed a lot of promise for better things to come.

Bach would have been pleased to hear that. He was a work horse and believed that those who labored as hard as he did (which few ever work that hard) would be successful at whatever they did.
