Harp Concerto of 2007

Hi everyone! I'm fairly new to this website and i found it to be exactly what I'm interested in!

Although i have written 15 different songs, this is the largest one i wrote. I like my songs to be very melodic and very exciting. Although the ending may seem a bit unbalanced, I'm going to work on that after i post this. If anyone has any suggestions please post!

it doeesn't feel very concertante to me, so the title threw me for a bit.

the use of strings is strange - particularly the division of the instruments.

and it's just a bit too repetitive to be really satisfying.

Great main melody, when I heard it the second time!

Could be used in a british tv serie as the main theme.

A nice little work you have here, enjoyable but I had one problem. While I was listening to the song with Finale I noticed that some parts in the harp would be rather unplayable. For example in measure number 15 the harp plays a G sharp then at the end of the measure it is a G natural, then the first note of measure 16 is a G sharp again, harps can not change notes very quickly like that. In order for you to make it work you would have to change it to an A flat, which is already in measure 14. This is also present in more locations throughout the work. The reason harps cannot do this is because, unlike pianos, they do not have the "black keys," harps have to change notes using pedals, which change all strings of one note to flat, natural, or sharp. This makes playing accidentals impossible in some cases. If you wish to know what is playable you should really look at some orchestral harp works or works that include a harp.

I certainly am impressed by the overall sound of it, but it's ... not much fun, is it? Concertos are rather thought of to be challenging pieces, but playing a monophonic arpeggiated and rather harmonic line is pretty boring for the performer.
