Possible movie theme

Featured Replies

This is just the introduction to a very long orchestra piece that I'm writing. I've always wanted to write a song like Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring", and so far, this is the closest I've gotten to it. Sense this is my first post, I'm definetly looking for suggestions.

Good work, they way the melodies and the the timpani/bassdrum worked together i really enjoyed.

Though like stravinsky he was able to use repetition and develop it without it becoming unbearable. But from what i'm told form comes with age.

A composer if you don't know him, then you should REALLY CHECK OUT!!! for he has your type of style just, real life performers to perform his work.(Bill Brown)

I look forward to hearing your HUGE ORCHESTRAL PIECE!!!!!!! (for i'm writing one myself)

So in all the ramble the best advice i can give you is to take the repetetion and find better ways for making them interesting!! like accelerating tempo or any other klablaable.

GOOD LUCK! Looking forward for some more!!

Since you were kind enough to listen to something of mine I checked through the site for your work - and I am fairly impressed by this.

I am a jazz musician and the hardest thing in an improvised solo is to keep something in reserve so that the listener is carried slowly upwards. In orchestral terms I think this translates as increasing the instrumental layering and introducing some new dramatic counterpoint or rhythmic figure at regular intervals. Don't sit down at the poker table and show everyone your hand !

Each peak must transcend the last for melodic interest and emotional power, like writing a novel.

Keep something in reserve is what I'm saying, I guess...........to myself too..!!

Hello,

I took a look at this and must say that I was very impressed. I believed you managed to keep it very interesting and your orchestrating is very colourful. I loved the use of dissonance to add tension as you build.

While generally speaking you should do as Chad suggested and vary the theme a bit more in terms of tempo and such, I think in this case it's fine as it is because it's an introduction, an overture for something else to come.

I wish you the best of luck as you continue working on it and am going to make an Mp3 of it for you in if you don't already have one because it would make it sound much better.

I'm curious, are you new at composing or have you been at it for a while?
