Overture in B minor

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new and I would like to submit a piece here. I have written this piece last year and would like to share it with you.

It is a "classical" overture with some filmscore harmonies and tunes. Orchestration is for romantic orchestra.

Although I think this is one of my few major works, I dont think it fits to be in the Major Work forum, so I posted it here.

I hope you enjoy it and comments and feedback are definitely welcome.

Thank you.

Very impressive piece of work, I hope you don't mind me saying overal it sounded like film music...Unfortunatly I don't have Sibalius so I had to settle for the midi, which didn't do the work full justice in terms of the big orchestra feel...

...But I thought it was fantastic! You did a good job with moving smoothly from theme to theme, orchestration seemed quite good also...This would be a major work for me had I written it as I have never written anything quite so long as 7 + minutes so far in my rather short composing career...

I think I heard some sounds resembling Danny Elfman, John Williams, maybe a little James Horner as far as the movie sounds go...Anyway, not to go on and on...I'm not the most experienced of reviewers so I'll leave any of the tech. stuff for those a little more experience...This is definatly a listeners pieces though...Congrats! :)

Hey,

Thanks for the comments Danny. No, I don't mind at all about it sounding like a film music, it is meant to anyway. I don't know how to attach the pdf score since it is larger than 3 mb, but I will try reducing it.

I echo the previous person's sentiments: impressive! The orchestration is very good, (nice use of the percussion, I must say) and you succeeded in your goal of making it sound like film music. Except at 1:00, where the style changed and it ended up sounding like a classical 1800's style overture, then switching back to your original style. But overall, I liked it! :D

Thanks Falk, haha I know that does sound weird at 1:00.

You are preparing for Hollywood!

Fredrik

Same as above. I enjoyed it and can easily see it in a film setting.

Epic adventurous! Love it, love it! If I were to comment on anything, it would be the uneasy feeling I get when it goes from smooth to climax to smooth to climax to smooth to climax to... you get the point...
