A freeform sorta piece

Featured Replies

While I haven't really had anything specific in mind for this piece, it came out in this sorta videogame/film music style, so I'll post this here. The title "Vessel" came to mind as I think I was thinking of metaphorical "Vessel of '____'" sort of theme initially, but never figured out what it be. This was done in a few hours, mostly just to relieve some boredom - the second half starts to degrade in quality as I kinda get annoyed of the piece (more specifically with the unbalanced instruments), but I guess it's workable.

Nice work! I can definitely imagine this as a kind of city-like vg music. Due to the slight Asian sound, perhaps an rpg in china or some other oriental land.

I do think the first half is better. The second bit doesn't seem to fit into the theme at all for a while. Maybe you could break it up into 2 seperate pieces.

Hmm, yes, that what I was thinking too (splitting it into two, that is). I guess even though they were motivically linked (in that the much of the harmony is stacked fourths expanding to stacked fifths), the stylistic differences are too great for them to cohease without more development.

As for the asian sound, it does fit for the most part, but there are some parts where the harmonies get kinda jazzy, which might undermine that fact. So hmm again. Hmm.
