It has promise.

One thing I seem to find in it is that the harmony is a little unclear. There are lots of "dissonant" notes (ie: non-harmonic tones) that seem to come from nowhere, and that don't resolve in any sense, traditional or otherwise. This lends the piece a certain ambiguity, for sure, but also makes the audience lose track of what is going on.

The transitions from material to material are a little rough. There's also a rather strong contrast harmonically between the opening slower section and the faster middle section. I don't really know if it works. Most of that harmonic ambiguity resides in that slower opening section (and its repeat at the end). My first reaction was that you were exploring some lesser-known harmonic territory, but then when the middle section came in, there are too many strongly tonal (ie: V-I) passages to justify the harmonic instability of the opening.

I think my sense would be that a bit of clarification of the harmony would be in order for the opening section, and a few of the dissonant notes could use some justification as well.

All I have to say is tremolo is better used in larger scale works.

Very interesting work. It kind of felt lost in some sections. Some of the cadences were really strange. There wasn't really a lasting melody to take away from the piece. There was a part near the beginning where all the instruments were doing their thing, and it didn't seem like you paid attention to how they related at all. But then later on, they did work together very nicely with alternating rhythms and whatnot. It was a strange effect, and I think it would be pulled off better with a solid melody.

I also have a question: did you write this straight through? Did you go back and change anything after you were done? It'd be interesting to find out either way you answer.

Thanks for sharing your music! :)
