Mike Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 We're beginning to experiment with the board's categories. As you may have noticed, the two forums known as "Announcements" and "Technical Problems and Suggestions" have been fused into one single forum. The "Music Theory" forum has been merged with the "General Composition" forum. New forums have also been added in the Composition category. As well as that, the board's title has been edited in an attempt to further improve our search engine rankings, although this will probably be changed again at a later date. If you have any further suggestions or comments about recategorisation, don't hesitate to put them forward. Quote
PianoGirl Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Mike, I think you should seperate the categories as much as possible (like don't put two together anymore). For example, "Announcements" and "Technical Problems or Suggestions" should be seperated like before. I mean what's the point of putting them together....they are two different things. ;) Quote
xyc Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 At least one thing I would suggest is a whole forum for Music Theory. In just one thread questions get skipped and people have to read the start every time so the questions at the bottom will never get read, etc. etc. You said it was previously that way and I think that was a good idea. Quote
Guest Anders Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why not an ''official projects'' thread? (You could move my ''smr pc'' there) Quote
jacob Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Yeargh, the more recategorization I see, the more clutter I see! The Board category. Why do we need an entire thread for donations? Stick it in Announcements etc. The Contributors area (PLEASE at least correct the spelling ) ought to be in the Composition category or something. The Composition category...hmm...I suppose the Critique and Writers Block threads will change in significance once that other software is added. I don't quite understand how the difference between asking for feedback on a complete piece and asking for feedback on an incomplete piece justifies two distinct forums. Composition Advice - Techniques sounds pretty good, although I would dedicate an Entire Forum to Collaboration, which could actually contain a subforum of composition games and such. At any rate, Composition Contests and Games should NOT be a category because that *prevents* members from creating their own types of games and contests (because we can't start a forum ourselves), which I thought was the beauty of it. And in general I just worry about being to disempowering to members in general. I don't know why Composer's Headquarters is called Headquarters - I hoped this whole website would be a Composer's Headquarters! "General Discussion about Composition" makes sense to me, though.
