Chronos

I'm currently trying to develop a game with RPG Maker 2003 (like many others I've tried but never finished xD), only now I'm composing the music for it too.

I intend for them to be simple, and this time they're supposed to be in MIDI, for its the kind the game supports.

They're made to loop, so they don't really have an ending, except for the titlescreen one.

The Chronopolis one is an orchestrated version of part of my Clock bagatelle. :pinch:

I'll update this thread from time to time, here are the ones I've composed so far:

Chronos - Titlescreen.MID

Chronos - House.MID

Chronos - Overworld.MID

Chronos - Overworld Night.MID

Chronos - Chronopolis.MID

Chronos - Chronopolis Night.MID

Alright, well for one, RPG Maker is hardcore  I used to play with it. I'm at school now, but I'll check it out when I get home.

btw, got a link to the game? :P

Ahh.. I once tried making one too.. Never got anywhere near finishing it.

Titlescreen: I like the counterpoint you used in here, it's simple but catchy.. The harp at 0:45 was a nice change to the piece..

House: What kind of house do you plan this to be? I sure hope it isn't the main character's house.. Imagine how would you sleep or eat with this piece of jumpy music? ;) I think it will sound fine in a shop.

Overworld: Seems like it's a variation of the titlescreen theme.. Still good though..

Overworld night: This one is also a nice variation, but I think you should take out the bars at 0:37~0:38.. the sudden change in time wouldn't suite the night so much.. Then the brasses at were good...

Chronopolis: This one was my favourite. I heard your bagatelles before. there were 20 of them right? It's a good arrangement, but I could recommend changing the bassline a bit. Really like the chromatics at 1.33.

Chronopolis night: Nothing much to say about this one.. I suggest taking out the syncopation starting from 1:39.. Doesn't really fit as music for the night..

Now now where's the soothing storyline music? And the mouth watering battle music? :)

And also, are you sure that rpg maker only supports midi files? I remember my friend using mp3s in his project though...

If you're in need of a battle theme, I have one just lying around that you can use. Anyway, great music, they all seem to fit very well for their intended purposes. My favorite was Chronopolis.

Hey, Nirvana69, I read your mail, I'll answer it as soon as I can, no worries.

Hehe, thanks for the criticism.

Anyway, it's kinda Zelda-like, so the house theme is just a passing simple one (Ocarina of Time's house theme is jumpy too )

About the mp3 files, yes, I know it's possible, but it would make the game file HUGE, which wouldn't be very practical...

So I'll stick to MIDI for now. :)

Anyway, here are two more themes:

Chronos - Cave.MID

Chronos - Shop.MID

Your shop theme kicks major donkey man (besidse some of those arpeggios which are questionable). Your cave theme fits the theme but I felt you could have developed it more. As for your reply, no worries man, just whenever you have the time.

Sorry about the huge delay, Nirvana69, but I've only slowly restarted the game's development now. :P

My answer is a no, I want to try to make the entire game soundtrack. Hope you understand.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll keep your contact anyway.

In other news, here are a couple more themes:

Chronos - Intro.MID

Chronos - Library.MID

 After about two weeks, I figured your silence was just a way of telling me f"ck off anyway, so no surprises. I understand anyway. Just as long as you didn't say no because of my song writing ability. Then I will be sad :P

Asking people to "gently caress off" with silence is dead rude.

I'd rather yell "gently caress OFF!!" at them. :ninja:

Nah, don't worry, I'm just trying to actually make something with my own tracks.

I don't think I have yet been able to appreciate your songs, though.
