BattleShips [Main Theme]

This is the current selection I,m working on. It is in honor of the multiple battleships from the past present and possibly the future. This is what i have for the current theme for Battleships, but... i think something is missing.[ And yes the main theme sounds like ALOT of my other songs]

Ok, orchestration issue. You expect a clarinet at mp (I am guessing) along with a bunch of brass playing at the same volume to carry in that low of it's register?

I would suggest holding it up an octave or adding an oboe or flute and double that. The reason I am concerned is because the oboe has the dissonant not and the contradicting note... it won't be heard if Bb Trumpets are playing higher C's.

You will have to figure a way out of that.

Also the same thing applies for the rest of the piece.

I would add oboe and flute but... it wont let have more than 8 instruments.. so im making due with what i got xD

Yes you can add instruments. Just put them on the same staff.

I have the arranged piece... let me upload it this afternoon (it is morning now...) and it has what I am talking about already there.

Harpsong, you probably have an older version than he had, try opening it with FinaleNotePad.

To the piece. The major orchestration miss has already been pointed out, so no point being redundant.

What I found that lacked in his piece is motion, both harmonically and melodically. I mean playing the same note over and over again but with diffreat beats can work, but not throughout the entire piece. Also as Morivou statedm the orchestration problem; it might be a part of 'something missing'. You need a more solid texture.

This piece is of course not done yet, what I'd suggest you to do is see over your choice of instruments - so that there is an overall balance. Also try figuring out chord progressions because if you continue like this the ear will get very tired.
