Six Flags: Amusement parks!!

Featured Replies

Hi guys

This is my newest piece and its also my little tribute to SIX FLAGS! I've been working on this for the past three days... about a minute a day (i work pretty slow) To get my inspiration all i really did was go to Youtube.com and type in six flags! and watch some of the videos of all the various parks like Great America and Discovery Kingdom. Also they recently tore down Astroworld which was in Houston (where i live) and that was another inspiration for me.

I think this is a really fun piece... the ending may be a little loud but thats ok. Dont forget to look out for the little notes i put above the score!!

Tell me what you guys think of this one... any comments at all are very much appreciated!

Again im posting the midi and finale versions... in this particular piece i prefer the midi

Sounds good!

If you could write percussion tabs, I would suggest writing a battery percussion and pit ensemble score for this as well. This could easily be a marching band/drum corps show. Not many people can write like this.

HA! It reminds me of walking into Six Flags.

Without the rude ticket people....

Which Six Flags do you live near?

I think that "Rollercoaster" Should be a lot faster, and "what a fun day" should be a slow, comtemplative theme. I'm always exhausted when I leave Six Flags...

As a Brit, I'm not familiar with this concept of "Six Flags"... thanks to your handy score I've got it down as a sort of Alton Towers of the States. Otherwise I'd have put it down as some sort of celebration piece.

Clearly you and I differ in our meaning of the word "slow". :D This is a very inventive piece, made all the more remarkable in my opinion, that it was pieced together in just three days. I think you've got some of the images spot on, in a piece full of colour and visions. Bravo!

One Word: Google.

I assume you mean you composed a minute of music per day, not

"I've been working on this for the past three days... about a minute a day"

I will take pity on you since you live in Houston.

I also see this as a piece for a band. The strings do not seem to add anything critical.

A high school band would have a ball with this.

I have been stuck in traffic so many times around Houston, that I came to hate the place.
