Anyone know any tutors...

Featured Replies

I've been trying to find teachers for composing for a while, but without much luck. I live northeast Texas, in the Denton area (close to UNT). If anyone knows any teachers in that area, i'd be grateful for any information you can give me

I dunno...I'd think maybe some of the UNT profs would be open to the idea. If not, they'd at least have numerous suggestions. The Denton area has a pretty rich music scene, no?

yeah. UNT is amazing for music, but they've got so many camps going on there its kind of nuts. Actually, it's really nuts. It's very difficult to get a hold of the staff there right now

Email them. or go online.

If you're stuck and need to learn something while you look for someone to teach you in person, you could check out our "Lessons" section and see if you can apply to one of our teachers for some tutoring. :)

get to know composers. I got to know John Edmondson. he is always helping me out on pieces.

Also, just observing the lessons of others is rewarding as well.

Other places to check:

  • High School Band Program (teachers usually know the local pros)
  • Local Conservatory
  • Go to shows...meet the pros. Ask them if they take students; if not, any suggestions who might?
  • Music store bulletin boards
