Op.5 Fantasie pour Bianca

Featured Replies

This is my first piece after Time Symphony... Is a dedication to my dear Bianca

Besides the part that is a dedication is also an exercise for me, because a lot of good people (including Nightfly and the majority of my teachers)...and also an exercise for the pianist :P! It's a virtuosity piece with a lot of staccato and the tempo is pretty fast! But the tempo can be chose by the player... by his ability to play the piano! ;)

About the pianistic... I need some advices about that...

About the score... I am too lousy to check all the writing (I refer myself to the notation program, some of the legato's are a little bit over the edge )

About the musical language... Is not a breakthrough! lol Is in fact a very "mozartian" language... Some might say that I borrowed the exuberance of Liszt's in some places (but I let you decide about that)

I hope you'll enjoy it as I do!

I've just add the link to the archive that contains the score of the piece in (printable -of course) TIFF files! I hope you will have soon time to take a look to my piece! :)

I am not a pianist myself so I could not give you an advice from the pianist point of view. What I am hearing sounds ok to me. It's pretty hard though. All those repetitive staccato chords might need a lot of energy to perform. Why haven't you made all the pages of the score one pdf instead of each page separate TIF file ? kind of odd. My friend, this style is not my cup of tea and I find it hard to comment. However I can see that you are pretty good at writing for piano and there were couple of things in there that I liked. Like your occasional climaxes. But the harmonical language is what drags this piece from being much more. It certainly doesn't need to be breakthrough, but at least it could have been more interesting if you could abandoned the use of triads for the whole piece. I also liked the pacing. nice use of the dynamics throughout the piece. very musical.

Anyway, a pianist will give you a much better feedback than me. It's a good composition at the end. Certainly a good finished composition that could be performed at a concert or something.

Thank you so much for listening my piece! I know that I should have improve harmonically, but it was my ambition to abstain from anything more complex than those triads :D ... I wanted to focus my attention on the developing aria (melodically speaking) and on the virtuosity and expressiveness (also melodically)...

For the TIF files... I don't know how to make them PDF... Does any one know? (From what I know...Finale 2007 doesn't have this option)

Again thanks Nightfly... and maybe you can keep your promise about taking a look to my Time Symphony :D and give me an opinion...

:)

If you go to this site you can download a facility that allows you to "print to PDF". It will work in any program as it simply creates a printer for itself - and you just have to use it and print - then out comes the PDF. Easy as that.

It's a nice, fun piece. But I think, as a reasonable pianist, I would find a piece of this length extremely tiring to play.

Nightfly is right about the harmonies though - it's not that the harmony needs necessarily to be more modern - but that it lacks variety within its own stylistic constraints. Mozart uses prepared dissonance and outlandish modulations all the time! And occasionally he uses the most bizarre but extremely expressive unprepared dissonances!

So be bold!

OK Thanks a lot for your PDF file! And thanks for your advices about the piece!

You would need good, strong hands and stamina to play this piece but I woulnd't say it's impossible to play. Apart from its length, the piece seems playable but I haven't looked at it note for note.

Thanks a lot for taking a look to my piece... The tempo (Presto 200) is not to be taken as a "must"... The piece can be expressive through a good pianist... The virtuosity can be showed by the pianist in the places he can...It's all about the creativity of the interpret as well! :D

Again thanks!

Oh I really liked that piece. But only when I'm listening it. It's horribly difficult. In spite of this it's really good. The ending came suddenly I think, maybe you can write one more passage in C major - it'll end in strong 'T' function... or more ritenuto at the end? What do you think? :whistling:

Of course it's a great idea about the Ritenuto!!! And I thought that is a must for the pianist to leave the sensation of the finish feeling! In the interpretation , the pianist is free to express himself! :) :)

I think this piece is very pretty. It's one of those elegant simplicity that captures your attention......[well.....for me it's hard to play ahahahahaha......>.<]

Like hearing it though.....^_^

Thanks! Is exactly what I wanted to express: beauty through "extreme" simplicity! I used only the 7th as the maximum dissonance, but the piece flows through very difficult and jumpy passages but contrasted by passionate melodies!

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! :P
