And of course by quasi-aleatoric, I mean improvised. You have to use synonyms every once in a while.

With all of these, I thought of a motive or idea before beginning, and used the course of the piece to develop that idea to various degrees. Anyways, since these aren't really written compositions, I suppose I can't really "improve" them, but you can tell me your thoughts about them so I can have that in mind for future improv sessions.

Dance - Loved it - beautiful, romantic and tragic. Sounds almost jazzy. I just didn't like the melody somewhere around 1:03. something too sudden. Anyway great work!

Introspection - Nice work. You played it beuatifuly and full of it's emotion. I loved the high-low contrasts around 1:40, and the gentile melody round 2:30. However you got a few dangerous silent spots somewhere in the middle and you might want to add more left hand somewere after 4:00 (just very little).

Nocturne - A very beautiful piece of music! Sounds very modern. Loved it so i won't make any stupid remarks.

Giuse - WOW!! This was the best! You totally got my style on this one. It was divine and suddenly dark and almost spooky - more contrasts that is, and this time chromatic..... Well im speechless! Loved it, keep it up!

Enticement - Very interesting work! Jazzy... Liked all parts in it, especially the one with the steady rhythm. No remarks!

When i find the time i will listen to other compositions. By the way you play excellent piano!! Keep up the good work!

Journey?

Hey, Nightscape! Great pieces... and especially so as improvisations. I listened to three of them.

Dance: It's just so, so beautiful. And peaceful. This is my favorite. I have to ask, what is happening harmonically at 0:18 or 0:19. That one single note was just so beautiful and well placed and I just want to know what that was... :D

Nocturne: The title suits is especially well. Very nice. If you were improvving a similar thing again sometime, I'd say take a little more of a risk and incorporate more dynamics, maybe a fortissimo even.

Guise: I had to listen to it since Wolf loved it so much. I really liked the first part. I didn't like when you went really, really low on the piano. However, when you were accompanying higher notes with a few low notes it worked beautifully. I have to admit I got a little bit bored in the very middle of it... sorry! However, it was improv and amazingly done! Then, you started a bunch of new ideas and it became very interesting again. I love the start again at 4:22. What were the notes at the end (4:33)? Was it arpeggios for two octaves or something? I can't really tell what it was but I thought that ending was perfect.

Amazing stuff; I'll listen to more later. You're an amazing performer (especially in the Dance).

Thanks xyz. I'm glad you liked them. The Dance actually mostly uses the Lydian mode (I think I talked about this in another post) but I'm afraid I can't remember exactly what I was doing at that part.

The ending of the guise is an e minor arpeggio figure (again, I'm not exactly sure how I did it) but I know it's not a straight arpeggio up, as it goes up, then the other hand starts a little higher and it keeps going like like. There are also a few other notes in there besides E G B (like theres a D near the top) and this again is an example of modes, here I used the Phrygian mode a bit (although most of Guise is chromatic, not modal).

I listened to the Variations and Journey piece, both of which were nicely performed. I especially liked how you smoothly extended the Rachmaninoff piece, almost giving the feel that the composer himself wrote this arrangment. Nice job!

The Xenakis one was also pretty neat, but the recording quality sounded poorer. Since it is a rather complex piece, it'd been nice if all the notes were clearer. Actually, this piece reminds me of a lot of a suite of quick improvisations I've done a few years ago, especially harmonically and rhythmically (of course, your playing is much better and structure is more coherant :P). Good stuff.

Thanks, spc1st. I've since discovered better recording methods, (like the one I used in the Rachmaninoff piece) so if I do any more, they won't sound so muddled.
