Help with piano piece

Featured Replies

Hey everyone. I'm new to this site, but I really like it. I've been recently working on a piano composition, and I'm kind of stuck with what to do with it. Any feedback/comments would be much appreciated!

Hey, it sounds like your off to a good start on a piece. One thing I noticed about it was that the bass line repeated constantly the entire time. That's fine...if you want your music to sound commercial. It sounds like something you'd hear in a really old video game. You have good melodies, but they sound so normal, it's as if I've heard them many times before. I suggest a bit of modulation, otherwise it gets boring. So far I'd lump into the category of "background music" (what do you think this would be like performed in a music hall?). Again, I think the word that best describes this piece is commercial.

As for suggestions, a bit of modulation would keep the listener interested (by the way, the reason video game music can't be captivating is that it would distract the gamer). Also, maybe a second theme, and darn it, vary that bass line! It's cool at first but quickly gets old. Be creative and people will pay attention.

Aside from all of that, it sounds nice and energetic. Keep that up.

Cheers,

Evan
