Ocean Passion

Featured Replies

My first composition here :)

Ocean Passion

Acoustic Piano. Flutes. Strings ensemble. Trumpet.

I wrote this one long time ago for a role playing game setting my friends and I were crafting. I was thinking of an adventurer's ship sailing on calm and happy waters. When listening to it again, I sometimes recall the music from the famous videogame "Final Fantasy".

Please feel free to put it into the context of your own imagination and broader musical knowledge :)

Hope I can get some feedback on my style and techniques.

Thank you!

Welcome to YC. It is an interesting piece and a great beginning. I also have no training, but the more you compose the more you learn. Make comments on other people's music here, be patient and in time they will return the favor

My first composition here

An enjoyable piece which I think would do fine as background for a game. It does portray a sense of motion and has a happy bouncy theme. A good effort.

A pretty enjoyable piece. Does seem to have slight references to Final Fantasy in it. It was nice to hear a composer on this site who actually uses general MIDI sounds (at least I think they were general MIDI). I wish the piece would have had a more memorable melody but overall a very solid piece.

Thanks Euler.

Thanks rolifer  I'll try to review other music as well - within the range of my know-how of course.

Nirvana69, yes I fist composed them in MIDI and then converted it into mp3 only adding a "Chorus/Hall" effect. So far, that's more or less all I know to do technically, and I still have a long way to go in that. ;)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The way I see it, if a composition is actually good, then it's beauty will shine the sometimes questionable General MIDI sounds. No doubt that high quality synth instruments can make your compostions sound better. But as I said, a compostion's greatness is not determined by the sound quality, it is determined by the composition itself.
