Stage 004 - "Down the Railroad"

Featured Replies

So this is the first concept work for this game since The Copper Drain made about half a year ago. I've started to play with it a bit more musically - the result being this and another song. It's the first rendition of it so it sounds a bit sloppy in some areas but I suppose it was designed to put the general feel onto the table.

Anyway, stage 004 - TheOzSmith is an action adventure plateform game - this is the "old-western-ish" themed stage.

Private Host - "Down the Railroad"

I haven't patched up a real ending yet - I intend to add a few more instruments around the transitions. Any help/comments/criticisms well welcomed.

EDIT:

Part of stage 005 - This is a piece of the very next stage that follows this one. It's in the same level so I figured it would follow the same theme. Anyway, in this one you travel underground to the mechanical mines. I used pieces of the first song to construct this one. It's not done yet but I have the basic idea going.

A sort of weird remix of the song...

EDIT:

By "old western-ish themed" - I meant the stage seemed old westernish - as you are being attacked by a train in this concept - but the stage music itself was never really intended to be anything like country music - or what you might generally associate with "old western" actually.

I am not trying to rag on your music. I do like it, but....

The first one doesn't seem like a western theme at all. Other than Blazing Saddles, I don't think I've heard jazz in anything associated with westerns.

I haven't played a lot of VG's, so maybe that is the norm.

The second one works well for being underground. As long as the hero is not a gunslinger.

Well, it's got to stay relatively jazzy throughout the entire soundtrack : . Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you like it.

I don't want to sound like an donkey (I'm pretty new here - well, at least post-wise) but...this thread has received about 47 views - and out of those 47 views only one person has really responded to this song [not that I don't appreciate that]...

It's great that you're listening and all...but it doesn't do me much good unless you tell me what you think - thats all I'm asking. I say this because I know people are here - they've responded to several of the other surrounding threads around here - however, they've virtually ignored this one as if it had teeth.

Maybe there's just nothing to say

I have close to half of my stuff posted here with 0 replies. 100 views/0 replies. I have stuff here w/500+ views with over 20 replies. None of it makes sense. It does help though if you comment on other peoples music. The more you comment, the better chance of someone replying in kind.
