Ever read Spoon River Anthology?

Featured Replies

This is quite an old set, I started it a year or two ago and came upon it out of boredom and curiosity. I kind of like the material, so I may just as well edit it. (IT needs a whole lot of editing) {especially when it comes to setting the text and thinking about the singers capabilities....}

Anywho, give me something constructive out of your own generous being!

Three Characters I had set

Hildrup Tubs

Mabel Osbourne

Ace Shaw

*If you do not have finale and have a small or even large desire to hear I can convert it into a midi:blush: or a finale enigma file which works with Sibelius!! :huh:

Spoon, Hildrup Tubbs B-piano.MUS

Spoon, Mabel Osborne S-piano.MUS

Spoon, Ace Shaw T-piano.MUS

Man.... it seems like I say this in every farking post but here I go again....

...how 'bout a pdf and an mp3/mid so EVERYONE can review 'yer piece?

I love the Spoon River Anthology! I use a lot of those poems for my inspiration, as well. You can hear one of them at myspace.com/davidrigano. It's the last one: "All These Peaks Are Poems" based on Judson Stoddard.

One thing that made it rather difficult for me to discern in yours how it would sound was that you sometimes had multi-syllabic words on one note, or single-syllable words stretched out oddly across more than one note ("thir-st" I believe was one of them) and I don't know how that would be sung.

I really enjoyed the accompaniment figure for Ace Shaw.
