Couple of songs... Comment

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm new here.

First off, these might sound unfinished. Here is a list of excuses why :D :

1. I don't have a midi keyboard and I only have 256 MB RAM. Working with music is HORRIBLE. This is actually a good excuse.

2. I'm really lazy. Really lazy.

3. I guess, admittedly, I'm not particularly creative.

Ok, enough of the excuses...

Here is a couple of songs I've made:

[EDIT: Threw in another one.]

http://213.113.162.35/amuse.mid This is probably a more recent song. It was supposed to give the feel of a deserted amusement park/evil clowns... Silly, yes? This one is in midi format.

http://213.113.162.35/jst_wk.mp3 Pretty boring throughout, kind of intended.

http://213.113.162.35/piano.mp3 I made this song after playing some FF9 for some reason. Not really a full song, though.

http://213.113.162.35/hmm.mp3 I don't really know what I intended with this one.

http://213.113.162.35/atk.ogg I couldn't get really this right, but it's supposed to sound battleish anyhow. The cello might be a bit low.

http://213.113.162.35/short.mp3 Threw this in just for fun. Really short one.

Listen to one or two (or more), comment. Be as rude as you have to. I don't mind. :)

I listened to the amusement park one and the battle-ish one. I didn't really like the amusement park one until the percussion came in. Before the percussion, I found it boring and predictable. And it seemed kinda cliche. However once the percussion came in, everything seemed to work and I liked it from there on until the end. I didn't really see evil clowns or even an abandoned amusement park, it seemed to be too busy for anything haunted or evil. I still enjoyed. The battle-ish one I thought had a good start, but it seems to lack much development. Nothing is worse then to have a good theme and then not expand upon it. It works as a battle theme but I would recomend adding more to it. Overall, I really liked the Amusement Park one (after the percussion came in of course) and the Battle-ish one I thought had potential but as it is now, it's just alright. Still keep composing, I understand the whole being new thing. I have only been composing for about five months and have only been on this forum about two.

The first one reminds me of a song I just wrote called "Catcher" [/shameless self plug *look in signature* - but really, it does...and our first name's the same - kind of freaky if you ask me]. I guess its a sign of how cliche we're both being *cough**whine* - but I shouldn't say that - i think "classic" is the better word here...I liked it - really - although it seemed to go in random "directions" if that makes sense - like...it started off as a really happy sort of two faced maybe...not too amusement park-ish - but it got into that.

Eventually it started getting progressively darker - I really didn't feel an organized style of communication here though - it didn't really have an ending either...Although, yeah I picked up the "evil amusement park" or rather the "Evil Merry-Go-Round". I sort of assumed that you can't have an evil haunted amusement park unless it's abandoned so...I picked up that too apparently...

The mp3s are taking a little while - listen to them a bit l8ter...

Hey. Thanks for replying and for listening. I am glad I got some positive feedback.

About the song going random directions: yeah, it was pretty much intentional. I was trying to change the mood and I was experimenting a little.

I am in fact not entirely new to composing; these songs are (at most) a couple of months old, and since that time I have been trying improve. I am trying really hard to force myself to finish a piece I started working on yesterday, but it seems as though often inspiration is lost after leaving it there for a while. :P

I listened to all of them. Most of them were somewhat predictable.. But "piano" is by far the best IMO, especially the ting ting ting sounds you put in. Special, although it is too short.
