  1. Hi @Henry Ng Tsz Kiu, many thanks for taking the time to carefully listen to the music and write such a specific comment ! I'm really very grateful. The beginning with C sharp minor was not my preferred one (although one of them for this music) but is the result of a compromise with the range of the instruments as the piece unfolds. I'm not very confident on the use of orchestral percussions in general, especially the "main" ones (drums, cymbals) for highlighting the rythm. I may find easier to use pitched percussions to enrich the orchestral colours. So very glad you liked the orchestration (and it was a lot of experimentation work with the celesta, well, actually, with all the instruments from 6:00). Happy you enjoyed the piece and found it coherent. Building a piece with more contrasting themes is something I will probably think about in the future, based on the "confidence gained" with this one, thanks for your feedback. and thanks for your comments on the YT video ! 😉 @Kvothe, all the music was rendered with NotePerformer.
  2. Dear fellow composers, I'm glad to share with you my new composition : "Racing to the stars", which "tells" the story of the incredible journey of an adventurous astronaut, from the launch pad, to the cosmic mysteries. I believe I made some progress on keeping some thematic consistency throughout the piece : most of it is based on the simple motif 4 sixteenth note in a sequence, on the degrees I - II - III - V. The end of the piece (starting from 6'00, and especially 6'40) is more exploratory as far as harmony is concerned. From 6'40, it is aimed at conveying a sense of doubt, interrogations, psychic desintegration or being lost, etc, before getting gradually resolved. I would be pleased to know how you feel about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vGtmOXQHIU Enjoy, Vincent
  3. Many many thanks for your positive feedback. I'm so happy you liked it ! here is the score (draft). Some parts of it are definitely about armies, indeed. Especially on page 13, bar 84 onwards, the army and the weapons are under construction. And at bar 113, they go in the battle. Thanks for the "dies irae" mention, I was desperately looking for it. Now, I know it, thanks ! the animation was made with Twinmotion, a wonderful piece of software primarily aimed at architectural visualization : easy to use, powerful, free for non commercial purpose.
  4. Great you appreciated it ! The piece was performed by NotePerformer, a wonderful piece of software indeed. Having virtual saxophones sound "realistic" has long been a lost battle. This has improved significantly with virtual instruments such as SWAM saxophones. Here, it is only NoterPerformer right out of the box. I just activated/deactivated the vibrato on some saxes, and some parts of the piece, so that it would not sound too synthetic. Apart from this, NotePerformer is doing a very good job interpreting all the markings on the score. Many thanks for your feedback ! (I can't see the misalignment on the video)
  5. Hi all, Here is an orchestral suite with varied emotional moods. It is again about experimenting with various musical atmospheres and their transitions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-6YSA8Leik EmotiveScores

  8. Hello, as a composition exercise, I tried to reharmonize and orchestrate the famous 3rd movement of the sonata n°11 by Mozart, the rondo alla turca, or Turkish March. Only the upper part of the melody has been kept, and it has been kept unchanged. I tried to propose diverse musical moods. The very first part was intended to be performed by SATB singers but for audio quality reason, I replaced it with a Woodwind quartet (electronic instruments) https://www.youtube.com/embed/26Srn1p3zYw What do you think about the harmony ?
