  1. In all honesty, Composition isn't the sort of thing you can make a living off (doing just composition, I mean). Most composers seem to do a combination of composition for any orchestras willing to play their music (or for any that commission work) and teaching music. You should look into any local orchestras, see if any of them would be interested in playing your music - that's a good starting point for you :P and just generally getting your music around (uploading it onto places like youtube, for example). Regardless of what you chose to do, you should still keep on composing even if it's just a hobby ;) One can 'permanantly' compose as a hobby... I'll probably keep composing for a hobby (definately not taking it further than that though, to be honest :P). I hope that's all somewhat useful to you :P
  2. lol yea, robbing some banks could work too :P
  3. lol. I write so rarely that I'm lucky to get one a month (more like one every 6 months, if I'm bothered :P)
  4. lol, I only actually come onto YC to hear other peoples compositions (there are so many talented composers on here). I sometimes compose my own stuff (although very rarely) and I definately don't plan on making a living out of composition (will probably just do it as a hobby). In fact, I don't plan on doing anything relating to music as a living - I just want to keep it as a hobby (even though I've spent YEARS studying music ). My main plan is to emigrate to Japan and teach over there. Further than that I haven't thought of yet :P
  5. wow... that's all that needs to be said :P ...Pure Genius.
  6. haha, it's really good :) And it does sound like FF style battle music (has a Nobuo Uematsu feel to it ;)) Great work :)
  7. heh... I'd never sell my stuff :P If I want to get it around I'd just let people have copies rather than selling it.
  8. Bear in mind that a lot of composers weren't famous until after their death (not literally as soon as they died they became famous :P). Just saying that a lot of composers didn't/don't enjoy fame during their lifetimes. (So you don't have to be famous to be successful) Just keep at it. If you are determined enough you will most likely end up doing what you want (composition) ;) Also: Nobody says that just because you aren't famous you "Can't compose" ... Anybody can compose if they want and nobody can stop that. As for rejection... I honestly don't think they reject anybody for "Not being famous" (although it may seem that way)... Like I said earlier, If you truly enjoy composition and want to do it professionally then keep at it. Don't take the criticism too hard. Let it motivate you to become better :) So you get some criticism from someone - rather than withdrawing and worrying about what you write, become more determined to do even better with your next piece. It's all about the state of mind
  9. Do you have any idea how long that would take? The EWQLSO Gold is something like 33 gigs... (if you go for the Platinum Pro version you're looking at nearly 200 gigs). RA is 14 gigs. No idea what SD size is but knowing East West it'll be huge. Colossus = 32 gigs. Choirs is around 40 gigs. So, unless you have one HELL of an internet connection, this will take a LONG time to download. Not only that but I don't even know if it's possible to crack them, with the whole iLok security thing most of them have. As for cost... all that would cost A LOT :P
