Ok John, thanks!

Thanks for commenting guys! CheeseLord, you're absolutely right, lots of copying and pasting, and I should have taken a walk...or even come back to the piece a day or two later. Good advice. Umm, Sepharite if that first part is cheesy, do you think I should take it out? And to John and gameman, what exactly do I do with panning? Do I randomly pan right and left with different instruments? I'm kinda lost when it comes to that :S Oh and I definitely need to do something with that horrible ending! haha Thanks again

I think is my first attempt at even TRYING to make a complete song...and it was hard lol I came up with the melodies and percussion rather quickly, but I realized I still had to make into a "song" so to speak, and at about that time hell decided to break loose.Arranging the song was hard enough, but trying to make different melodic lines sound nice together was way harder. There was no creativity involved at that point, no beautiful inspiration welling up from within me...it was just me comparing notes one by one to see if they sounded OK together lol...yeah, fail.So apart from the ton of other things I need to work on those 2 problems were the most conspicuous. Oh yeah, I got my inspiration by laying down an Asian/Latino sort of rhythm loop first (Fl Studio).Hope ya like it ;) From Asia to Acapulco with Love...

P.S. Lovin the Maneater (N.Furtado) feel at the beginning

Oh John, Im not really good at this sorta thing :s lol But Ill try anyway...I was thinking of a synthy version of a french horn. Yeah, in any case it would be a synth. The first time around the piano by itself is fine (IMO lol) but as the power of the song increases, I think it should be more full. Im getting an inspirational song and rap (light, medium speed, not gangster hehe) vibe from the song. And as if the singers/rapper starts to belt it out or get really passionate that enveloping feeling you get from the french horn ((now synthefied)) along with the beat , will just burst out of nowhere and almost overtake the performers, just almost, for an epic climax followed by a resolution however you might like it. Oh and forget the wah wah thing, that was way out of my league to try to explain. Thanks for trying to understand! : Drue

lol I was like, Ive never heard that song before (Hung Up). But yeah, Ive heard it lots of times, I just didn't know the name And youre right haha, its not a fuga. Wait, fuga? Where are you from? Será italiano...o español? Just out of curiosity Just like you say, Ill probably do it over too! Thanks!

haha yip. FL Studio. howd ya know? This was probably the first "electronic" song I ever made. The funny thing is I used to hate techno/electronic, but I felt like it was the only thing i could do in FL. I'm sort of breaking out of that mold now.
-
Listening to this old beat of mine, reminded me that musically speaking, I take pretty long to get to the point. But don't worry after the first 1/3 of the song it picks up lolI like the instruments though...I guess its Electronic, but has some old game sounding samples. Its shame I can't find the old FL file to modify it. Vintage

Oh and how about a nice wah wah sounding synth simple melody in the beginning. Well that was difficult to describe lol. One sec, Ill sing it for you. Whats that? Cant do that either? lol
-
lol wow Marius the whole razor blade q-tip thing doesn't sound to pleasant lol If I was any younger that comment may have been nightmare inducing. I like the song a lot! But I'm afraid it's not hip hop. Well it isn't hip hop, but you could make almost anything into a rap song! rofl @ it started off as hop-hop. Marius sure is blunt. But I suppose that's the most efficient way to get an idea across. So deal with it John. haha Im just kidding! What software did you use to make this one? Btw, I like the piano too. I think it needs to be in unison with another instrument though, (On that's a little heavy and full sounding) because it sounds oh, so lonely. Later! Drue

For a second there I thought that this really might have been the Final Ride lol Maybe even more specifically the Batman ride at six flags. I can see the hero battling it out at the end, but not like a super fast anime style battle scene, more like two greek gods getting to the climax of their battle after having fought all day and just going massive blow for massive blow, the dark sky booming with every one. It has like an epic "fate of the world depends on the outcome of this battle" feel to it. Great piece DRUE

I think Ill be taking you up on your offer J And just as you and gggg say I need to vary it (varying mean slowing it down for a moment lol, maybe with a crescendo sort of a big swell kind of thing....that might be nice) and maybe lengthen it. Do you have msn? So you can explain the daaaa, daaaa, daaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! lol Not sure I caught your drift
-
You know what else J? I think my music is straight because...well that's all I'm capable of. I sit down and try to stimulate my muse, but I can never really come up with anything that's not "straight" lol Am I making any sense? I guess that uniqueness that you sense comes from an uncanny lack of ability hehe Id like to improve, but the only tool Ive got is practice and I haven't been making good use of it :s Did anyone else realize i spelled fair with ai instead of ea. I really need to get out of Mexico now, my English is suffering immensely? And on another post i spelled write like right....My goodness.

Ok jhardindrums ill have to check that out! Thanks and Ouch! J! Duran Duran ballad...not exactly what i was going for if you know what I mean lol. With my limited knowledge of FL (which is now rapidly growing thanks to everybody's input), maybe Ill be able to use less crappy sounding samples lol. Oh and sorry about not having and ending, I get scared when I have to end a song so Ijust leave it at that hehe. Maybe it's not fair, but laziness...
-
Awesome suggestion EricC and thank you muchly for the vocab lesson, and to the J if I can make these songs any faster that would be great! I take forever (sometimes)! I think when i go home for the summer next week I'll buy one. lol @ naggy nags

Ive got it! I think I know what else this piece needs!! A Gypsy Kings styled solo flamenco guitar! Muhahaha! Aww man, how am I gonna right like them...?
-
It is a little depressing I guess. In fact after the first few seconds I realized that I had stopped breathing temporarily lol I even felt like a weight on my chest. However, considering the purpose of the music I think its fine, but changing it up a bit would be nice too. I too, would love to hear more...maybe a daunting climax or something like that
-
Just sent you a message! Add me when ya can I dont want you to have to go through all that hassle!
-
Im getting something...a masquerade ball Although from about 1:00, it feels like it's still a ball but someones causing commotion running from or searching for another person in the crowd...And then it goes back to the pleasant evening. I would love to hear this on real instruments. All that's missing is the sound of clinking glasses and people chatting. Good job!
-
I'm probably below average with FL Studio, I can find instruments and add them to the pattern thing, write the music for them, and then add it to the song forming section. Oh and I know how to add effects to the tracks. But that is basically it. I feel very limited :| If I took "lessons" I wouldn't even know where to start, it would be like starting from zero. I've seen "courses" here and there online, but they're all very hip hoppish. I'd love some random tips if you have any for mah :) Thanks for the scale too. I'll see if I get any ideas on how to implement it :D
-
You're absolutely right about the breakdown section thing. Thanks for the input!
-
This is really neat! You know, I always wondered how they composed music for old games...It's also very pleasant ,I got the urge to start singing with it lol I guess it sounds like it could be a "modern" song, just written using retro game styled instruments P.S. I love that percussion instrument that sounds like you sampled a sneeze!
-
Great suggestion! I wanted to add more percussion but the process is just sooo tedious :( I had asked a question on another one of my pieces, about software (similar to FL Studio) that can be used for orchestral pieces. I just know the basics of FL studio so Im not sure if it's even possible to find a crescendo function and then just stretch it over the length of a certain part, if you know what I mean. What I tend to do is write the song in FL Studio in 1 pattern, and then separate the patterns 1 by 1 and then in the "song forming" section I just throw in the patterns where I think they should go. But this method is very...hmm can I say, static? I don't know how to adjust the volumes of a certain pattern in a certain part of the song. Throughout a song the pattern will ALWAYS have the same volume, or tempo or dynamics...If I want to make a simple variation I have to create an entirely new pattern similar to the first and then include it in the song making part. But what happens if I have a long song with many dynamics and stuff like that? So yeah, I don't know how to do that kind of stuff in FL Studio (or in any other software for that matter...) Any suggestions? Also, I have a 100% noob question: What is meant by sample? I always understood it to be a piece of music already written thatis included in another song (very common in hip hop I think). Since I don't have any of those in the song, I'm no longer sure I'm sure of what it means

This is some really visual music! I can see the clumsy giant trying to boogie down (albeit in a medieval, stiff kind of way). This could go straight to a tv show, game, or movie soundtrack as is... With the blaaaaargh (hehe) at the beginning I thought of some cute mythical creatures dancing in the swamp, then comes the "big scary giant" who turns out to be not so scary after all, and they all dance together. The last blargh would be the clumsy giant falling on his bum (almost like a baby lol) Love it! Disclaimer: All rights to say "blaaargh" belong to Wendell.R.F.93. I do not any of his onomatopoeia expressions.
