String Quartet, sounds boring huh?

Featured Replies

Is this even worth continuing? I like the way the harmonies turned out, even if they are pretty simple. Please, please comment.

I really like the harmonies too. I think it's worth continueing, but maybe break out of the accompaniment rhythm you've set up and/or introduce some counter melodies, something like that that could give it some more direction or variety. Also, it sounds pretty jazzy, was that on purpose? I like that, especially as it's a string quartet, which one doesnt usually expect to be jazzy.

I don't know. I thought it sounded more romantic. I guess if I went with the jazzy thing, that would throw people off a bit. Thanks for the comment!

I agree with 920bpm. You have got a melody, and it is imperative that you change your accompaniment otherwise it WILL be boring. You dnt have to have the 1/4 notes pumping the same note four times, make some counter-motion or as 920 expresses it counter-melodies; if you have problems with creating melodies then try to hum something or extract it from a piece you like and change it so it fits your piece as you like it.

Do continue.

Very interesting. You should try to change the texture a little bit (perhapes more polyphony). This isn't my style so I really cant say anymore but there is something about the piece that grows on you.
