July 31, 200718 yr Am thinking of getting some Bongos, just for the hell of it :) Any bongo players here? Any advice you can offer me?
July 31, 200718 yr Now we can have Kerouac and Ginsberg poetry readings, with Mark laying down some prime bongo beats... ...Hippy.
July 31, 200718 yr Author I think I may be able to convince my parents to let me buy these: LP WBCP221-DW BONGOS - U.K. International Cyberstore
July 31, 200718 yr LP WBCP221-DW BONGOS - U.K. International Cyberstore A quality pair of bongos...
July 31, 200718 yr Heh, I have a bunch of old, hard-back dictionaries I lay out and drum on. Bongos are okay, IMO, but congas are better, it's just they're bigger. But hey, whatta ya gonna do? I think you could count me as an able player of the bongos and congos, but I'm no virtuoso of sorts by any means.
July 31, 200718 yr Author If I take to Bongos I am planning on investing in some Congas as well, and probably some more latin percussion instruments
July 31, 200718 yr Oh man, I wish I was a millionaire. I would just walk right into a music shop and buy it. Sapphire...?
August 1, 200718 yr I like congas better. They have a much nicer sound, then bongos. IMO, that is. But no, I really couldn't help you find a decent one.
August 8, 200718 yr Personally, I think congas are WAY better than bongos. Bongos are louder, but congas have a much nicer sound, and with the right techniques can be pretty loud. Of course, there's nothing wrong with having both... ~Kal

That's like saying: trombones are better than trumpets; trumpets are louder, but trombones have a nicer sound. (not true...trombones are WAY louder)
August 9, 200718 yr I went and checked out some bongos myself and almost bought some too! But then realized that I'd probably never really get into them. I do recall tying to play bongos before and I just didn't have the rhythm in me, although that may have changed. In any case I DID buy pocket trumpet! Yeah! It just came today! Robin will be excite (maybe), you are into brass are you not?

August 9, 200718 yr Author Thanks  I'm becoming more interested in other latin percussion now aswell, think I might get myself some congas as soon as I can convince my parents I need them, and look into writing for latin percussion. I see that finale 2008 has some new sounds; latin percussion, and saxs and stuff aswell as GPO, so I think I'll add that to my wish list :D
