Your Favorite Violin Concerto

Featured Replies

That would have to be a tie between two Concertos.

Johann Sebastian Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor BWV 1041, and his Violin Concerto in E major BWV 1042.

Although, not as orchestrated as largerly as the ones after Bach's time, these are a symbol of perfection.

My most loved. :)

Oh yes! I played the E Major, fantastic. But the one I played the most us the Double in D minor.

People.... You're forgetting one of the most amazing of all!

Corigliano's Chaconne for Violin and Orchestra.

That piece changed my life.... it's off the Red Violin soundtrack and I urge any violinists here to have a listen.

Alban Berg...

I like Paganini's Violin concerto No. 2 in Bm (La Campanella)

I know like absolutely nobody likes Paganini here, so no hate mail please

Nico's Opinion = Blasphemy

No, he's right...for once  :D jk

Paganini is bad though :)

Maybe I should another favorite Composer, But he'll still remain my favorite musician

Is there a way you can change your username?

PM either Mike or Chopin.

Witold Lutoslawski's Partita for Violin and Orchestra is great.

And I thought he said that he didn't like atonal music? :)

Stravinsky's is great as well.

I've seen on wikipedia that Bruch wrote another two more violin concertos, though I've never heard or seen the score of them. Any help here? (trying to promote unheard works is my job - gonna buy a $1500 opera when I'm in college and have the money )

Mendelssohns violin concerto! (can't play it though!)

I can, it's beautiful :shifty:

I prefer Ferdinand Küchler.

I just heard Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto today - it's AMAZING!

Max Bruch's Gminor Violin Concerto!

It's such a great work, especially the first movement.

Prokofiev's Second, especially the first movement.

I just discovered Shostakavic(is that how you spell that?), great stuff :(

It's Shostakovich. Yes his works are amazing but I only really like his symphonies.

Definitely Beethoven's.
