The Lord is my Shepherd

Featured Replies

This is a setting of Psalm 23 for a three part women's chorus. I wrote it in hopes of fitting it into my Requiem, but I never developed the themes of this into the Requiem, and it just didn't fit, so I decided to change it up and arrange it as a stand alone work.

 wow, very nice!!!! it must make a fine effect with real voices! loved!

Some nice effects. The emphasis isnt quite right in some places, but I'm not really one to talk, I do that ALL the time! I really like measures 21-23 where it says "yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death". Tuning might be tough, but if the group is good enough, that should be no problem.

My first review, so bear with me...

I've got to say, I liked this one. It reminds me a bit of an early work of Copland's, his motet "Thou, O, Jehovah abideth forever" (which I think is great). I particularly enjoyed the ending, from measure 50 onwards. However, I expected measures 33/34 in the first soprano to go a bit differently (Bb-a-g-d'')... but this is of course subjective. Other than that, nice work. Looking forward to hearing the complete Requiem!

pretty good my friend, although the music you selected to the text was wonderful i didnt think it fit that well. keep in mind thats just my interpretaion, when i read the 23rd psalm i think of a powerful emotion of triumph, but then again thats just me. however, from about 2:30 the music was even more magnificant! the chords right before the high register made my stomach drop, and after that moment i felt like your emotion grew. nice job!

Wow! I really wasn't that pleased with this, but it seems like it's something people would like. I guess I'll have to try it out with a choir.

It was very good! I enjoyed it so much...hope you record it soon! ;)

I've actually never really figured out how you get something recorded. You've had something recorded. What do you do?

It's actually quite easy (NOT).

1) Find the musicians.

2) Find a sound engineer which you trust.

3) Arrange rehearsals/recording sessions/payments and so on.

Go for it!

Strangly eerie, but very nice indeed.

A fellow REQUIEM WRITER! I praise you! *kisses the feet of oboehazzard*
