Dragon!

Here is another... incidental track from me!

www.cgempire.com/music/10/nikolas-dragon.mp3

It's short only 1 minute long and 1.5 MB so it's easy to download...

Very epic, and for the 10th cgempire music competition!

Enjoy! I know I do, everytime I listen to it!

Very sexy music Nik, love it

Can I ask, how long did this take you to compose?

Mark

Actually 3 hours... I had very little time and it was the very end, and I was already extending the deadling for me personally, so I spent very little time to it...

I downloaded all of them and am trying to pick a winner. It is impossible!!!! I am curious, what library has the lion growling?

Great job for only 3 hours

Ron...

Do vote.

The "dragon" growl is from an sfx library, as well as the breathing one, plus a bit of sound design :sadtears:

Your track is very fine as well, if I may say :)

This is very well-made, Nikolas, but it's a bit derivative of John Powell's "True Love's First Kiss" from Shrek. Listen to it and you'll see what I mean.

Nice job though!

EDIT: In fact, here's a YouTube video that happens to feature that piece so you see what I mean with the thematic similarity:

Marius, is it also (very) much alike "Deep blue sea" the aftermath. Amazon.com: Deep Blue Sea (1999 Film) (Score): Music: Trevor Rabin

Go here and listen to "aftermath". Around 0:10 the theme is... almost entirely the same as well!

But I've seen both films and could not remember for the shake of me, where I got the theme from, or if it was mine. I actually asked around many people, and noone could remember... So... :sadtears:

AHHH! I *knew* there was another one I was remembering. I was trying to place it :sadtears:

Anyhow, it doesn't really matter that much, I just thought I'd mention it because it occurred to me while listening.

  • Author

You know...

It happens some times. I just got this theme in my head, but don't have any soundtrack of th4e two, and didn't know if it was mine or not. So I actually did start asking and asked 3 people. All 3 told me that they can't place it. So I assumed that it's partially someone elses and partially mine... But it does seem that 90% of the theme exists... So I'm not exactly cool! Too bad cause I really liked it

Whoever the theme belongs to, this is still, to quote Mark, very sexy music!:sadtears:

The one thing I didn't like was the choir...sampled choir sounds in general really annoy me...

What do you use to make your music Nikola? Finale or a sequencer?

  • Author

Sequencer (cubase)

The choirs was a 5 minute work in the end. If I had time I would have them sing real words and sound... better anyways...

Cheers mate

Awesome

Yes, damn fine composing. That dragon sound kicks donkey.

Awesome

Thanks guys, and saxophone-AIT, thanks for saying it twice ;)

As expected from Nikolas, just perfect!

Very nice. Rhythmic and energetic. Yeah, I also remembered hearing that particular theme before, but I think you remodelled it into something (Like Mark said) sexier.

EDIT: After a few listens I have to say that the main theme reminded me a little of Pirates of the Caribbean too. :(

Thanks! :)

I will have to strongly deny that! It has very little to do with the POTC main theme, unless you mean some other theme in the soundtrack I'm unaware of...

Let's not jump into the wagon "What does this theme remind you of?" Not now that it's complete and set.

I already withdrew from the competition, so never mind what else it reminds you of. 2 links are already sufficient... :sadtears:

Sorry. :(

I did not meant to offend you or anything, and if I did, my apologies.

the intro ( sorry i know squat about music) not in chord but in structure sounded like the main batman theme played in batman returns just at the start of the credits just after the penguin baby is abandoned. mostly because of the bass drum and the cresc

  • Author

That I know!

And yet you keep trying to think of other themes that this theme reminds you of! Well done once again :(

And no, I'm not offended, but it seems that you here have got a bet "who will find yet another theme from which this track is stolen", or something... :shifty:

seriously guys, pirates of the caribbean, Batman!? It has no resemblence what so ever to any of those two movies. That true love song on utube, on the other hand are actually almost identical melody but who cares, you makes this melody great nikolas. Good work!

whether an authentic theme or a somewhat similar one, its what you do with it that counts. nice work! :)

Thanks moordred and thatguy

  • 2 weeks later...

Nice samples and effects. I like the introduction and melody, but I think it's a little short. However, reading the circumstances under which this was made under, it makes sense as to why. Nice work.
