THE FILE loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool ! :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Little Piece in G Minor.mid

Hmmmm, "Must hear"?? :whistling: Well I am definately not a professional, but I will try to comment. First of all, are you sure this piece is in G minor?? Seemed more like B flat major to me. And it seemed like the midi file had the sustain pedal on all the way through :(. It did seem like you have a good understanding of traditional "classical" style though. But if you want to develop the piece I think you could expand upon it if you put more time into it.

It's not G Minor. It's Bb major. I would also add some trills to the melody perhaps. It's also very short. I would repeat the whole thing again, or some portion of the song I like the piece. The chord choices are pleasant to the ear.

why is this 'MUST HEAR!'?

?

it seems like you dont know that Bb Major = G minor !!

the are both having B and E as FLAT !!! By the way its not the matter of the Key Signature because G Minor is Bb Major, and its a fact that when creating Little Pieces, how you can consider the Idea of the THEME and its effect on the listener, and its not "Must HEAR" i am sorry because its not me who uploaded the file!!

Ha ha ha, are you kidding me?

Get some music theory knowledge and quickly because your post was about as inaccurate as you can get.

Alright, let me help you out a little. True, Bb Major and G minor have the same key signature...but they are NOT the same key. In fact there are SEVEN different keys all with the same Bb Eb key sig (and four more that are relative to it). It all has to do with chord you are centering around and resolving to throughout the piece.

Here is your piece transposed into G minor. The second one it D Dorian just for fun (based off the 3rd in the scale, but still with the same key sig). try to catch the suttle differences between them, It may be tough as they're both based off a minor chord, but they are there.

G minor.MID

D Dorian.MID

k, I just realized that that was D Phrygian, not D Dorian (Dorian is based of the 2nd of the scale). Sorry about that. Oh, and the D PHRYGIAN modulation sounds really cool :)

Certianaly an enjoyable little piece, but also certiantly not in g minor (yes, it does matter whether you call it G minor or Eb major!), and I don't know if this is quite a "must hear" piece either. Expand upon it some more, add in some development, and then try reposting it for us to hear, because it really has potential.

nice piece, very pleasant!

hmm was jsut thinkin actually, you know chopins Db nocturne? 27. 2 i tihnk it is? 90% of that is not in the major, but in minor

Nocturnes are almost always written in minor.

You mean g minor and Bb major but I agree. You can't call something minor when it is major unless you want people to think you don't know what you're doing. And I don't see why anyone would want that. It's evident from the writing that you do know how to write a nice little piece. It could do with a bit more development however to lengthen it out a bit.

Oops... didn't even notice that I had written Eb instead of Bb... sorry!

Regardless... My other comments still apply.

Nice little piece...and...

Yes I do:

A very nice and elegant classical peice you have here. This would be great for piano students (I can just picture a little girl playing this, every once and a while stuttering for the next note ), but, just like others have said, it needs to develop more... it seems almost too short. You've written what can almost be a song. And in songs, 999 times out of 1000 (maybe more), you hear the main thought repeated in some shape or form as a second verse, and even a third verse (which could be repetitive here). I didn't hear the main theme ever again! I think if at :40, you used that arpeggio to lead back into the melody and add a "B" section, you could have a nice peice!

AND- it IS in B-flat major. You do use one G minor chord, but it dissapates quickly, and the peice doesn't end with it. So, it is in B-flat.

Now don't get me wrong; This peice is very good in more ways than one. Don't be discouraged, because you have the base for a good peice of music!

hmm i tihnk you'll find its about even, the vast majority of Field's nocturnes were in major, and this one is in DbMajor, rest assured, i play it

Agreed, didn't sound minor at all, but great piece very happy sounding in fact.

This is quite a simple, charming piece. It gives me a feeling of peace. it's also something that I could play (I'm an amateur pianist, and sightread at a lower level).

Perhaps expand on your theme, it's quite charming and sing-able. Perhaps, you may want to transition into G minor, or as others said , add more verses.
